Hello blog readers!

I just wanted to throw up a post to say hi, and let you know of some exciting blog posts, coming your way by the end of December:

  • A beautiful at home wedding, including some fun Italian rituals, that the couple put together in two weeks!
  • A wedding ceremony that included a candle lighting ceremony, a foot washing, and was grounded in light, service, and the couple’s open discourse and pursuit of knowledge.
  • A breakdown of Eclectic Union’s first full year of weddings! And a sneak peek at what is going on for 2010!
  • Delicious photos of the cake served at Dan and my engagement party last weekend 🙂
  • Information on the charities I gave back to this year, thanks to my couples.

So you’ve got lots to look forward to!  I’m taking a brief vacation this weekend, but should be back in action early next week.  I hope your holidays and wedding plans are going well!

American Express is sponsoring a contest to “Shine a Light” onto an inspiring small business.  I nominated Eclectic Unions, and need your endorsements to complete my nomination (I need a total of 50!).  If you have a chance, I’d really appreciate if you took some time to visit the site, read my story, and endorse Eclectic Unions.  Click here to visit my Shine a Light profile.  You do need to register, but it only takes a few minutes, and you have until September 13!

One of my goals is the bring the idea of tradition and ritual back to wedding ceremonies, to personalize and create special moments that truly reflect the couples being married, and their love and devotion for each other.  To me, there is nothing more inspiring than love, and I find inspiration every day in the amazing couples I get to work with.

Thank you for your support!

Popping in to say hi!

Wedding season is in FULL SWING, and I’ve gotten a bit behind in my blogging.

But don’t worry!  I have some awesome wedding posts coming up later this week, as well as information on putting together your wedding processional & recessional, new ideas for your bridal party, and more!

Thanks for being patient, and you’ll hear from me soon!

I’m super excited to be blogging at one of my favorite wedding websites, Weddingbee PRO!  You can go over there to read my introductory post!

Weddingbee is an endless source of entertainment and inspiration for me, and I hope that I can do the same for brides and grooms working with their officiants or writing their own ceremonies!  There’s so much out there to be inspired by in your wedding, and the ceremony is certainly no exception.

Of course, there will still be blogging here… wedding season is just starting up (May is going to be so busy!), so there will soon be even more ideas, plans, vows, and wedding pictures, don’t worry 🙂

You may have noticed little blurb updates from me via Twitter on the side bar of this blog.  I’ve been using Twitter for a little over a month now, and tend to post a bunch of links there – the cool stuff I’m reading about weddings online through the myriad of wedding blogs out there.  If you’re a Twitter-er, feel free to follow me over there as well for a daily dose of wedding inspiration!  You can find me @EclecticUnions

2a8c1885-73ce-4969-8016-c30f66f4e230rp420x400The Iowa Supreme Court has decided that a 1998 law limiting marriage to a man and a woman was unconstitutional!

From the New York Times:

The decision was the culmination of a four-year legal battle that began with a suit filed on behalf of six same-sex couples in the lower courts.

The Supreme Court said same-sex marriages could begin in Iowa in as soon as 21 days, making Iowa only the third state in the nation, along with Massachusetts and Connecticut, to legalize gay marriage.

Yay!
